734 Restoration Updates

    • Removal of tube ends on front tube sheet

    • Air pump removed

    • Air reservoirs and associated plumbing removed

    • Removal of fireman’s side injector

    • Double boiler check valve removed

    • Sand dome removed and cleaned

      We will round out February with needle scaling 734’s boiler.

  • 734 has been placed in the shop for running gear evaluation, ultrasound mapping, and removing existing plumbing for replacement, and continues accessory removal.

  • 734’s new boiler flues are purchased and acquired from Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum through a purchasing partnership.

  • 734’s jewelry (cab appliances, badges, other hardware) are removed and catalogued for storage.
